゛Wind Corridor”

This place was a Corridor of Osashima Elementary School. Children moved through the corridor between classrooms and the gymnasium. When Bikky lived in the building, the inner part of the corridor was divided into three rooms. This Wind Corridor is finished in wooden bricks as a representation of wood, a carver’s raw material. The right side has iron walls, a representation of the chisel a carver uses. Wood chips are spread over the floor to represent the wood shavings created in the produ ction process.

In his later years, Bikky often included the word “wind” in the names of his works, and this exhibition room was created to allow people to experience those works.

The wind sound that reverberates through the corridor from the ceiling was recorded in front of an artwork of  Bikky’s that was exhibited outdoors. Thunderous wind sounds resound through the corridor along with a sound like wood splitting.
