"3 A.M. Room"

This room is a classroom. The casually placed tools bear a close resemblance to those Bikky used back in the day. The large saw and ax displayed on the wall are ones Bikky got from Osashima residents who didn't need them anymore. He laid them out the way he liked, to created his own space, and immersed himself in his work. In 1980, a semi - cylindrical house was built on the opposite side of Atelier 3 More. Bikky created all his large works there and he would go there even late at night to create small works and make rough sketches.

At the time, after 3 a. m. the Soya express train would pass through Osashima bound for Wakkanai and blow its steam whistle.

Bikky would start working while looking out his window at this train.

Late one summer night, Bikky stared at a single moth that fluttered around a dim disk light.

His hands began to move furiously. He carved a piece of wood, and the result was his famous work “Toy at 3 A. M.”
